Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Betty Sullivan\n\n\r\n\t\t\t\tBetty Sullivan, age 90, of Albia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Senior Suites in Urbandale. She was born on June 5, 1927 in Hocking, Iowa to Bob and Viola (Bettis) Rogers. Betty graduated from Albia High School, and then attended "Normal" training and taught at a country school. She married Bill Sullivan on August 4, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. Betty and Bill were blessed with five children: Larry, Marcia, Sharon, Sandy, and Jeff. She was a homemaker, and a devoted mother and wife. She worked at a coffee shop in Albia, and also as a home health aid for fifteen years. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, and volunteered at the nursing home to help with Bingo. Betty loved to play pitch with her friends, and kings in the corner with her grandchildren. Betty and Bill loved to go to the country music shows in Rathbun on Saturday nights. They also loved to travel, especially to Branson. Betty cherished her time spent with family. She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Bill Sullivan of Urbandale; children, Larry Sullivan of Portland, OR, Marcia Wasko of Louisville, KY, Sharon (Jon East) Sullivan of Des Moines, IA, Sandy (Brock) Nelson of Boise, ID, Jeff (Sue) Sullivan of West Des Moines, IA; fourteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Viola Rogers, and siblings, Carol Self and Gary Rogers.Betty's family would like to give a special thanks to Homestead Assisted Living in Albia, Senior Suites of Urbandale, and Mercy Hospice for the wonderful care received. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia with Father Michael Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services in St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m., and Betty's family will be present to greet friends from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. There will also be a Rosary Service at 4:00 p.m., conducted by the St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, and a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home Tuesday evening.
