Brad William Patton, age 61, of Albia passed away Thursday evening, September 26, 2019 in Melrose, MN. He was born on March 6, 1958 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Donald and Doris (Vlaswinkel) Patton. \n\nBrad graduated from Albia High School, class of 1976. He then went to Masonry School at DMACC. He married Denise Griffin on April 3, 1982 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with two sons, Travis and Tyson. \n\nHe worked for Laborers 177 for sixteen years until his retirement. He then started trucking. He enjoyed working, going on vacations, and especially spending time with his family. Always embracing and smiling, Brad thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. He had never met a stranger and could always find something to converse about. He was a huge fan of all things sports, outdoors, and cooking. He loved entertaining friends and family on the patio and running the grill. Brad was always encouraging of both children and teammates that surrounded them. He had most recently enjoyed entertaining and playing with his grandchildren as well becoming the #1 fan at the ballpark again. \n\nBrad is survived by his wife, Denise of Albia; mother, Doris Patton of Albia; sons, Travis (Emily) Patton and Tyson (Jaimie) Patton both of Albia; grandchildren, Cal, Ross, Hadley and Myah Patton; siblings, Stephen Patton of Apache Junction, AZ, Deb Illingworth of Albia; mother-in-law, Marie Griffin; bothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry (Linda) Griffin, Joyce (Gilbert) Robinson, Patty (Dave) See, Ronnie (Janet) Griffin, Dave (Cheryl) Griffin, Donnie (Sherri) Griffin, Robert (Carla) Griffin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Patton; father-in-law, Ray Griffin, and sister-in-law, Connie Patton. \n\nFuneral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m., and Brad's family will be present to greet family and friends from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia.
