\nCelia Welsh, age 76, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday morning March 31, 2023 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. \n\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m.,Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lovilia with Father Mark Yates, C.PP.S officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will also be on Wednesday, from 1-2:30 p.m., at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lovilia. Online condolences may be left for the family at sinnottfuneralhome.com or the Sinnott Funeral Home Facebook page. \n\nCelia was born on June 21, 1946 to Thomas and Catherine (Adams) Kurimski on the family farm in Lovilia. She graduated from Albia High School, class of 1964. She married Gene Welsh in 1965, and they were blessed with two children, Steve and Debbie. Celia worked at the dining center forming many relationships with the students of DMACC for 23 years and retired in 2006.\n\nCelia was a woman of faith who was always full of energy. She loved to go bargain shopping, attend her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, especially all sports, win at bingo to give her “prizes” to her family, and be outside enjoying the sunshine. Celia had a love of animals, but most importantly her cat, Baby, of 20 years. Everyone loved Celia’s sassy personality which made us all laugh.\n\nSurvivors include children, Steve (Jodie) Welsh of West Des Moines, Deb Easter of Granger; grandchildren, Taylor (Doug) Knepp, Brandon Welsh, Broderick and Caden Easter; mother, Catherine Kurimski of Lovilia, and brother, Jim Kurimski of Lovilia. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Kurimski; her sister, Charlotte Post (Larry) and her brother Tommy Joe Kurimski.
