Ottumwa , Iowa
On a day that's a little less bright, we remember the radiant life of my son, Christopher Jones. Christopher, or Bubba, as I fondly called him since birth, was born on February 15, 2001, in Visalia, California. He was a force of nature, full of witty humor and loyalty that knew no bounds. We are all blessed to have shared in his vibrant life before his untimely departure on January 29, 2025.
Chris was a man of many talents, yet he wore his abilities lightly. He was a thoughtful soul who found pleasure in simple things. He loved working on his truck, and his spirit of adventure led him to places far and wide. His love for travel took him from Tulare, CA, to Twin Falls, ID, and Westminster, CO, before finally settling in Ottumwa, Iowa. "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes," said Marcel Proust. Christopher lived this quote, seeing the beauty in every situation and location.
He was a truck driver by profession, but his interests extended far beyond the open road. Christopher was passionate about Renaissance Faires, Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter, and Dungeons and Dragons. His love for music was unparalleled, often using it as a way to express his emotions. Christopher was an avid sports enthusiast, having played soccer, baseball, basketball, and varsity football, where he was honored as Defensive Lineman of the Year. He was also a Boy Scout and an accomplished Autocad graduate with a Class A license with endorsements.
Christopher's love for life was infectious, and his funny and engaging demeanor made him an immediate hit in any gathering. He found joy in ax throwing, and his stories from his travels kept everyone enthralled. But what mattered most to Christopher was taking care of others and being a positive role model for children. The legacy he leaves behind is one of love, laughter, and living life to its fullest.
Christopher is survived by his father Joseph (Courtney) Jr., me, his mother Jennifer (Virgil) Jones, his brother Patrick (Jerzie) Jones, his partner Heather Scott, his half-sisters Jacqueline Jones and Annabel Jones, his cousin Taylor Dias, his second-cousin Cain Dias, and his grandmother Linda Malone. We will all miss his radiant smile, his laughter, and his unwavering loyalty. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Sam Malone, his uncle Mark Malone, and his grandmother Jackie Jones.
As we remember Christopher, let us celebrate his life and the joy he brought to us all. His was a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and boundless energy. In the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." We invite you all to share your memories and photos of Christopher on his memorial page. Let us remember him as he was – full of life, love, and laughter, and forever our Bubba.
Christopher's family will be hosting a celebration of life at his childhood home on April 12th, 2025, 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. For directions, please contact Jennifer Jones at jgj015@yahoo.com. Come at your convenience to share stories and memories! Lunch will be provided.
