Cora Jean Leshen passed away on January 26, 2023 at the Monroe County Hospital surrounded by her family. Cora was born June 29, 1941 in Pittsburg, PA to William and Jean (Matthews) Hepburn. She graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 1959. Cora married Ronald Leshen on December 2, 1961. She was employed by USteel in Pittsburg, Dr. Britten and Dr. Haas, and Chariton Valley Electric in 2004. She continued to work there part-time for another ten years before re-retiring. When her children were younger, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA office at Jefferson School and later was active in PEO, Albia Country Club, and St. Mary's Catholic Church. \n\nThe one word that could be used to describe Cora is selfless. She always put others before herself and loved unconditionally. To know her was to love her and to love her was to know her. She was an avid Albia and Grinnell sports fan and spent many nights in the stands watching her grandchildren. When she wasn't cheering on the Blue Demons and Grinnell Tigers, she enjoyed cheering on the Pittsburg Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions. Cora always had a snack ready for whoever needed it, whether it was in her purse or at her house. She was also an amazing cook and loved to feed whoever showed up at her door. \n\nCora is survived by husband, Ron; sons, Jay (Heather), Eric (Angie); thirteen grandchildren, Jessica (Jared), Jack (Erin), Josie (Nick), Mariah (Aaron), Tony (Jade), Rylee, Benny, Lilly, Blake (Kelsie), Brett (Taylor), Bryce (Danille), Beau (Addie), Brooklyn, and nine great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jean Hepburn; son Kirk, and brother, William. \n\nIn her true Cora fashion, she insisted upon no funeral or service because in her words "they are sad" In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the family.
