Dallas Adrian Tucker Jr., of Albia, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa. He was born on December 2, 1937 in Lovilia, IA to Dallas Sr. and Vera (Bettis) Tucker. He graduated from Albia High School, class of 1955. He married Sharon Kay Douglas on February 20, 1959. Sharon preceded him in death on May 12, 2007. He lived a rich and fulfilling life, filled with warmth, love, and a passion for the simple pleasures. Dallas and Sharon spent many years vacationing, and later winterizing in Georgia. Dallas was a man of many interests; he had a lifelong love for the excitement of horse races at Prairie Meadows and was an ardent supporter of his children and grandchildren's sporting events, often traveling across the country just to cheer them on from the bleachers.
In his younger years, Dallas reveled in the tranquility of fishing and the adventure of camping. As he grew older, he found joy in the camaraderie of playing bingo at Homestead Assisted Living in Albia. He was a passionate follower of Albia athletics, and his enthusiasm even extended to being an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Dallas was a dedicated professional, working diligently at the VA in Knoxville until his retirement, earning the respect and admiration of his peers. Yet, amidst all his interests and achievements, what mattered most to Dallas was his family. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and found his greatest joy in their happiness.
Survived by his children, Debbie (Steve) Thomas of Albia; Doug (Lou) Tucker of Lavonia, Georgia; David (Lisa) Tucker of Marion, Kentucky; Dana Armstrong of Bloomfield, his sister, Marilyn Walker of Avery; grandchildren, Steven (Andrea) Thomas, Joe (Heather) Thomas, Kayla (Andy) Suarez, Amanda Tucker and Justin, Danielle (Austin) Parker, Gracie Tucker, Caitlin (Justin) Shaw, Benjamin (Sadie) Tucker, Alex Tucker, Tucker (Elizabeth) Armstrong, Trent Armstrong, and Trey Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Gunner and Nora Thomas; Emma, Brinley, and Derek Thomas; Amiah, Emmett, and Mila Suarez; Jude Parker; Ethan Shaw; and brother-in-law, Robert Douglas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Sr. and Vera Tucker; wife, Sharon; mother-in-law, Bertha Evans; a granddaughter, Gabrielle; two great-grandchildren, Ryley and Kole; son-in-law, Shawn Armstrong; and one brother-in-law, Lawrence Walker. Also preceding Dallas in death are all of his wife Sharon's siblings and their spouses, Louise and Bob Murphy, Lois and Jack Kendrick, John and Kay Douglas, Richard and Marilyn Douglas, Janice and Don Jones, Diane Novi, and Karen Douglas. Dallas was a man who truly lived, and his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will be remembered fondly.
