Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Darwin "Peanuts" Gordon\n\r\n\t\t\t\tDarwin "Peanuts" Gordon, age 91, of Lovilia, died on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Westridge Specialty Care in Knoxville. He was born on October 21, 1924 in Pershing to Edward and Ruth (Zimmerman) Gordon He married Bonnie L. Potts on January 16, 1949 in Albia. They were blessed with four Children: Dianne, Rick, Pam, and Ardie. He served for the United States Army during World War II. He received seven medals, including a Purple Heart. He was a jack of all trades, working various jobs. He ran Lovilia Dairy Creme, Skelly Gas Station, co-owned White Oak Coal Mine, and spent many years selling cars, where he was known to wheel and deal. He would take anything on a trade, and even once took in a monkey. Peanuts was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Bussey. He was a Mason, and American Legion member of Lovilia. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting trips to Wyoming, pheasant hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Bonnie of Knoxville, children, Dianne Cardenzana of Olathe, KS, Rick Gordon of Knoxville, Pam (Mark) Kurimski of Lovilia, Ardie (Lynn) Gordon of Waterloo, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Gerald (Helen) Gordon of Farmington, NM, sister-in-law, Mary Gordon of Omaha, NE, brother-in-law, Mark Walker of Norwalk, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Ruth Lucas, Eddy Gordon, Dr. Marvin Gordon, David Gordon, and Beverly Walker. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Community Baptist Church in Bussey with Pastor Brad Hansen officiating. Burial with Military rites conducted by the American Legion of Albia, Lovilia, and Melrose will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home, Gilbert Chapel in Lovilia.
