David Luthi, age 68, of Ottumwa lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. \n\nFuneral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Ottumwa with CJ Essary officiating. Interment will follow in Ottumwa Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, opening to the public at 3:00 p.m., and David's family will be present from 5-7 p.m., at Sinnott Funeral Home in Ottumwa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at sinnottfuneralhome.com or the Sinnott Funeral Home Facebook page. \n\nDavid was born July 8, 1954 in Lincoln, KS to Harold and Phyllis (West) Luthi. He graduated from Ottumwa High School, class of 1973. He married Deborah Rae Anderson on July 29, 1980 in Ottumwa. He worked as a millwright until his retirement in 2014. \n\nDavid enjoyed fishing, camping, riding his Harley, and even rode an electrical bicycle once he wasn't able to ride his Harley anymore. He was very talented with woodworking and his children have many items of his work from tables and beds for his grandchildren. \n\nSurvivors include his wife, Deborah Luthi of Ottumwa; children, Shawn Ward of Ottumwa, Amy (Scott) Allen of Ottumwa, Matthew Luthi of Ottumwa, Kayla (Ben) VanLoon of Albia, Kelly (Seth) Hoskins of Ottumwa, Kelsey (Danny) Stookesberry of Albia, Kaitlin (Curtis) Van Zee of Ottumwa, Marcus Luthi of Albia; father, Harold (Sheryl) Luthi of Ottumwa; seventeen grandchildren, one great grandchild; and brother, Ronald (Denese) Luthi of Discovery Bay, CA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Luthi.
