Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Donna Jean Shelford\n\r\n\t\t\t\tDateline: Lovilia Donna Jean Shelford, age 76 of Lovilia, died on Thursday evening September 18, 2014 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia under the care of Monroe County Hospice. She was born January 7, 1938 in Monroe County to Loren and Florence (Bingaman) Gass. She graduated from Lovilia High School, class of 1954. She married Bill Slofkosky in 1955. They were blessed with five children: Tom, Debbie, Bill, Diane, and Kim. Bill died in 1977. She later married Jack Shelford in 1981. Jack also precedes her in death, passing July, 24, 2012. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Lovilia, and St. Peters Altar and Rosary. She was a very humble and spiritual woman. She liked flowers, feeding birds and loved her pets. She is survived by her children, Tom (Melissa) Slofkosky of Liberty, MO, Debbie Peterson and George Teno of Albia, Bill Slofkosky of Lovilia, Diane (Bill) Murray of Iowa City, Kim Murphy of Albia, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, brother, Jim (Diane) Gass of Michigan, step-son, Greg (Holly) Shelford of Knoxville, two step grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Bill Slofkosky, and Jack Shelford, three step children. Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, September 22, 2014 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Lovilia with Father Patrick Lumsden officiating. A Funeral Luncheon will follow services at the St. Peters Catholic Church Hall. Inurnment will follow lunch in Weller Cemetery.
