Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Dorothy Deane VanDorin\n\r\n\t\t\t\tDorothy Deane VanDorin, age 93, of Albia died early Friday morning, February 5, 2016 at the Monroe County Hospital. Dorothy was born on December 2, 1922 in Elliott, Iowa to Charles and Janice (Pierson) Kruse. She married Cecil Rogers on August 9, 1938. Cecil died on October 17, 1966. She later married Lowell VanDorin on November 3, 1967. He died on October 17, 1996. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Albia. She was a Dancing Granny for over twenty years. She was a volunteer with Helping Hands and Monroe County Hospice. She enjoyed gardening and going on walks. Survivors include her children, Carolyn McAlister of Albia, Dean (Nancy) Rogers of Scranton, Roy Rogers and Charlie of Moravia, Betty (Larry) Whippie of Keokuk; step-children, Lewis VanDorin of Florida, Carolyn Carpenter of Oklahoma, James (Ann) VanDorin of Ottumwa, Roy (Laura) VanDorin of Arizona, Suzy (Richard) Frankel of Tennessee; one sister, Flora Ackerman of Council Bluffs, one brother, Richard (Margaret) Kruse of Council Bluffs, seventeen grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husbands, Cecil Rogers, and Lowell VanDorin; daughter, Charlotte Sterk, and two granddaughters. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 opening to the public at 1:00 pm and the family will be present from 5-7 pm Monday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia.
