Obituary for Garrett Landon Shaffer Garrett Landon Shaffer, age 5, of Albia, died on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Monroe County Hospital, under the care of HCI Hospice with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 24, 2011 to Deora Del Vernon and Shawn Shaffer. He loved going on car rides, and being pushed in his stroller in the rocks. He also loved hearing his brothers play, and spending time with his family. He truly cared for each one of his nurses. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He changed many lives. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Deora and Ronald Vernon of Albia; brothers, Andrew Shaffer, Alex Shaffer, Gage Shaffer, Gavin Shaffer, Griffin Shaffer, Greyden Vernon; maternal grandparents, Veronica (Cleon) Babcock of Sigourney, Michele (Phil) Major of Albia, Russ (Denise) Vernon of Texas; paternal grandparents, Jema DeGarmo of Oklahoma, Earl (Diane) Shaffer of Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his father, Shawn Shaffer.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Brad Gray officiating. A funeral luncheon will follow services at the River Life Family Worship Center in Albia. Burial will follow the luncheon in Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m. and family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Memorials to the family.
