Gladys Ann Karr, age 85, of Albia, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Monroe Care Center, under the care of EveryStep Hospice with her loving husband by her side. She was born on November 3, 1933 to William and Bessie (Thompson) Hawkins. \n\nGladys graduated high school in Bloomfield, class of 1951. She married Forrest "Pat" Karr on July 14, 1954 at the Bloomfield Christian Church. They were blessed with three children: Sheree, Rick, and Tony. Gladys worked in food service at Hy-Vee, retiring in 1996. \n\nShe loved gambling, traveling, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, and she loved all children. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Gladys alway wore a smile, and never knew a stranger. \n\nGladys is survived by her husband, Forrest "Pat" Karr of Albia; children, Sheree (Gary) Rumley of Newark, MO, Rick (Shelly) Karr of Marshalltown, Tony (Avis) Karr of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willam and Bessie Hawkins, and eight brothers and sisters. \n\nA Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Rev. Richard Grimes officiating. Visitation will also be held on Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. Memorial contributions may be directed to EveryStep Hospice.
