Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Gregory P. Morehead\n\r\n\t\t\t\tGregory P. Morehead, age 66, of Albia, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Monroe County Hospital. He was born on September 18, 1946 to Paul and Josephine (Carlson) Morehead. Greg graduated from Albia High School, class of 1964. He then attended college in Centerville, and Muscatine. He married Jackie Anderson on February 17, 1969 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney, and they were blessed with three children: Joy, Corinne, and William. He owned and operated Morehead Auction and Appraisal. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, and past president of St. Mary's Parish Council. His many memberships and accreditations include: a 4th degree Knights of Columbus Council #4167 member, a past member and president of the Albia Chamber of Commerce, a member of Monroe County Fair board, secretary of the Albia Industrial Development Corp. board of directors, volunteer auctioneer for Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Georgetown God's Portion Day, St. Peter's Church auction, and other community and private benefits, past president of Iowa Auctioneers Association, member of the National Auctioneer Association, and current board member on the Iowa Appraisal Board. He enjoyed reading, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Greg is survived by his wife Jackie of Albia, children, Joy (Aaron) Davis of Albia, Corinne Kelley and TJ DeMoss of Albia, William (Serena) Morehead of Polk City, two sisters, Deborah (Dan) Muldoon of Omaha, NE, Barbara (Warren) Brunkhorst of Edgar Springs, MO, six grandchildren, Kelli Jo, and Brett Baker, Zakary Kelley, Dillon, Brennon, and Reghyn Morehead, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia with Father Mike Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will open to the public at 11:00 am on Friday at Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia. Visitation will move to St. Mary's Catholic Church and start at 3:00 pm There will be a 4:00 pm Rosary conducted by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm conducted by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council #4167 of Albia, and a Christian Wake Service at 8:00 pm at the church Friday evening in which the family will be present.
