James "Jonesey" Michael Jones, age 72, of Albia died at home on Thursday, March 2, 2023 under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. \n\nVisitation will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia, opening to the public at 2:00 p.m., with Jim's family present from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home by the American Legion of Albia, Lovilia & Melrose. Jim's body will be cremated following the visitation and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Weller Cemetery. Memorials to the family and will be directed following services. He was a graduate of Albia High School, class of 1969. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War until he was wounded and received two Purple Hearts. \n\nJim was a member of the American Legion in Albia. He enjoyed nature, watching deer and most of all cruising around visiting with friends. \n\nSurvivors include two children, Michael Kent and Brian Jones, both of Albia; sister, Judy Rogers and Pat Murphy of Albia; grandson, Carter James Kent, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Jones and brothers, Jerry and Joe Jones.
