Jerry Funk

–

Ottumwa, Iowa

Jerry Wayne Funk, born October 14, 1954, in Ottumwa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026. Jerry was a unique individual known for his smart thinking, witty humor, and creative talents. His life was characterized by his love for seeking out hidden treasures in the unlikeliest of places. He found value in forgotten vintage farm items and could always make something out of nothing. He never saw anything as junk- only as something that still had purpose. With his creativity and skill, he could turn the old and forgotten into something useful again.

Jerry was a familiar face at local sale barns and an avid flea marketer. He had a knack for finding beauty in the old and worn, giving new life to vintage farm items and creating pieces that were admired by many. He loved animals and could nurture the unwanted ones back to health. He also enjoyed spending time in his vehicle listening to his favorite AM radio stations and completing crossword puzzles.

Jerry was never married but was surrounded by love from the ones who he spent time with. He is survived by his family, Ryan (Lynissa) Elliott, and their sons, Jaxton and Dawson Elliott. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lois Funk. Jerry's absence will be deeply felt by everyone who knew him. He was a man whose life was a testament to the fact that one could find purpose in the simple things of life.

In accordance with his wishes, no funeral services will be held. We encourage those who knew Jerry to share their memories on his memorial page. Your memories of Jerry will serve as a reminder of the smart, witty, and creative man that he was, and his love for giving new life to vintage items will continue to inspire us all.
