Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Jim Wallace\n\r\n\t\t\t\tJames Henry WallaceJim Wallace, age 87, of Albia, died on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albia. He was born on June 1, 1928 to Lewis and Katherine (Waisner) Wallace. He graduated from Albia High School. He then was engaged to Mary Ann Kipfer, but she died from cancer before they were married. He then married Pat Brissee on July 15, 1950 at the Albia Methodist Church. They were blessed with two daughters; Barbara and Carolyn. He enlisted with the United States Army in the intelligence unit during the Korean War. Jim's wife Pat died on April 16, 1987. He has also lost two companions, Shirley Illingworth, and Ruth Dunkin. He opened his own business, Jim's Body Shop, after working for David Clark Garage and Roy Brooke Motor Co. After retirement, he and his brother, Bob, opened B & W Auto Sales. Jim was a sixty-year member of the American Legion of Albia. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, making wine and brandy, traveling out west with his family, and his yearly elk hunting trips to Colorado, and deer hunting in Monroe County. Jim was known for his homemade pies and noodles, and pon haus. Jim is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Wallace Hughes and Jim Kimpell of Fort Dodge, Carolyn (Jim) Van Klavern, of Albia; one sister, Helen Flahive, of Ottumwa, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Pat; and siblings, Ruby Clark, Babe Campbell, Bob Wallace, and Ted Wallace. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will follow services in Hiteman Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be served following burial at the American Legion in Albia. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, opening to the public at 2:00 p.m. and family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia.
