Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t John Joseph Johnson\n\r\n\t\t\t\tJohn J. Johnson, 73 of Albia joined his heavenly family on March 27th, 2015 after a courageous seven and a half year battle with leukemia and Hodgkin's lymphoma. John was born September 5th, 1941 in Iowa City to Ernest D. and Isabelle Herman Johnson of Lovilla, Iowa. John graduated from Lovilla High School where he met the beautiful love of his life, Judith Ann Sickler. John and Judi were joined in marriage on August 5th, 1962 at the Lovilia United Methodist Church, where John was a lifelong member. John's dad was a hard working coal miner, but it only took one trip into the coal pit to convince John to seek another path in life. After graduation, John worked a short time for a natural gas pipeline and Culligan water service. He then began working in the insurance industry and created a flourishing agency where he worked for forty-two years. Johnson Insurance Sales Corp. continues to serve southeast Iowa even today. The success he gained in helping clients was attributed to his high integrity and always putting others first. John believed in volunteer service all of his life. He enjoyed serving Lovilia's Fire Department and Community Betterment for many years. He helped support and construct Lovilia community building, served many offices in the Life Underwriters Association, and was involved in the Albia Victorian Stroll and the Albia Chamber of Commerce. John wanted to be part of improving the longevity of the Albia parks by being a member of the Albia Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship. John was devoted to his family and provided a life time of memories for all of us to enjoy. John continually found joy in hunting, fishing, observing nature, gardening and farming. His legacy will be continued in the lessons he taught and the bliss his family finds during their adventures on the family acreage.
