Obituary for John Edward Powell Sr. John Edward Powell Sr., age 52, of Blakesburg, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his residence in Blakesburg, under the care of Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties, surrounded by his loving family. John was born to Marvin and Betty (Kemp) Powell on September 7, 1964 in Galesburg, IL. He owned and operated Powell Auto Body. He was an avid racing fan. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, working on cars, and especially spending time with his family, and his dog Lucy. Survivors include his children, J.J. Powell of Rockford, IL, Jennifer Powell of Pekin, IL, Jami (Shawn) Buxton of Ottumwa, John Wallace of Gainesville, FL, Melissa Powell of Ottumwa, Nichole Powell of Blakesburg, Vivian (Waylon) Raines of Ottumwa, Jack Dietz Jr. of Rolla MO, seventeen grandchildren; two siblings, Roseanne (John) Traff of Galesburg, IL, Jimbo (Barbie) Powell of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Betty Powell, and one brother, Marvin Powell Jr. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Ray Lyon officiating. Burial will follow services in Blakesburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017, opening to the public at 2:00 p.m., and John's family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia.
