Katherine "Kate" Adeline Brock, age 79, of Albia passed away on Friday evening August 28, 2020, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 25, 1940 in Rock Island, IL to John and Theresa (Fedrizzi) Gutcher. \n\nKate was salutatorian of Albia High School, Class of 1959. She was blessed with four children, Chris, Sheila, Greg, and Suzanne. She worked at the Knoxville Veterans Hospital following high school. She was a devoted wife, mother, and worked every aspect of the family farm. Once her youngest daughter Suzi turned 4, she then owned and operated Albia Realty. \n\nShe was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She never met a stranger, and enjoyed being active including gardening, canning, cooking and especially spending time with her family. \n\nSurvivors include: Mick Brock of Albia; children, Chris (Romy) Brock of Los Angeles, Sheila Brock of Toronto, Greg Brock of Indianapolis, Suzanne Brock of Connecticut; three grandchildren, Emily Kleiber, Aidan Kleiber, Evan Brock; siblings, Judy (Larry) Stone of Florida, and Tom Gutcher of Fort Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Theresa Gutcher. \n\nA Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia with Father Mark Yates C.PP.S. officiating. Inurnment will follow services in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 open to the public from 2-7 p.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
