Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Leo Francis Caster\n\r\n\t\t\t\tLeo Francis Caster, age 97 of Albia, died on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Monroe Care Center in Albia, Iowa. He was born on July 24, 1917 in Monroe County, Iowa near the little mining town of Foster to Ernest and Selma (Johnson) Caster.Leo graduated from the eight grade of a little country school in Monroe County called Hazel College. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946. After returning home from the war, he married Dorothy I. (Yohe) Clester on July 5, 1947 in Albia. He worked at Maytag in Newton, Iowa from 1946 to 1954. The family then moved to a farm in Monroe County between Albia and Moravia. He was subsequently rehired by Maytag and continued to commute to work there for another thirteen years while driving a school bus for the Moravia school system and also farming. He then went to work for the Postal Service in Albia and Oskaloosa for another thirteen years while still continuing to farm. Altogether, he farmed and raised cattle for forty-six years before retiring and moving to a home in Albia. He enjoyed traveling, old cars, working on anything mechanical, and reading and (of course) farming. He is survived by his sons, Ron (Diane) Clester of Albia, Dennis Caster and special friend Charlotte Jennings of Osceola, one brother, Floyd of Walker, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Selma, his wife Dorothy and brothers Clifford, Clarence and Darrel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Rev. Richard Grimes officiating. Burial of cremated remains with military rites conducted by the American Legion on Albia, Melrose, and Lovilia will follow in Service Chapel Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will be held on Thursday, opening to the public at 1:00 pm at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with family being present from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Visitation will also be on Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Memorial has been established in Leo's name and will be directed at a later date.
