Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Malcom C. Smith\n\r\n\t\t\t\tMalcom "Greyhound" C. Smith of Albia, age 63, died at his residence on May 23, 2016. He was born to Fred W. and Dorothy W. Smith on March 18, 1953. He is survived by his beloved kitty cats and a community of friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents. Malcom was known in the day as a junkman, but in today's world he would be known as a picker. Walking his bike around town, Malcom always found something to either reuse or sell as scrap. He was an avid collector of all 1950 and 1960's TV and movie memorabilia. Some of his favorites were Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Sky King, Penny, Gilligan's Island, and also Mary Ann and John Wayne. He also loved the history channel and going to What Cheer, Iowa to the Flea Market each year. Malcom was gifted with the ability to recall any facts, dates, names about any kind of history, and of course anything that had to do with 1950 and 1960's TV programs. Malcom kept to himself, and was a simple person that lived life his way. He never hurt anyone; even with his challenges he was very independent and kind to anyone that ever helped him. Malcom's body has been cremated. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia from 5-8 p.m. Burial of cremated remains will be with his parents at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, IA on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Albia Animal Clinic or the John Wayne Birthplace Museum in Winterset, Iowa.
