Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Marilyn Ann Stephens\n\r\n\t\t\t\tMarilyn Ann Stephens, age 79, of Albia, IA, went to be with the lord on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 22, 1937 to Samuel and Mary Ellen "Nellie" (Carr) Billings. She married Kenneth Stephens on June 27, 1955 in Albia, Iowa at St. Mary's Catholic Church. They were blessed with four children: Chris, Jeff, Carol, and Gary. Marilyn worked at JCPenney in Albia, and then for Monroe County Municipal Water Works until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. Marilyn had strong faith, and was active with her church. She was very involved with RCIA and truly enjoyed sponsoring her grandkids fiances in entering the catholic faith. Her family was everything to her. Family get togethers were a must; from Sunday Dinners, to Holiday gatherings, where she was famous for her red velvet cake and macaroni and cheese. Marilyn saw the good in everyone, and she never had a negative thing to say toward another. She enjoyed going to the horse races with Kenny, gatherings with siblings, and the annual ladies' night out; where all the women in the family would take a trip to Des Moines. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She rarely missed an event; from ball games and dance recitals, to taking the grandkids to all their appointments. She was always the one the family could count on. She is survived by her husband, Kenny Stephens of Albia; children, Chris "Toots" (Donnie) Sinnott of Albia, Jeff (Kristan) Stephens of Albia, Carol (Dave) Peterson of Albia, Gary (Jennie) Stephens of Albia; grandchildren, Jill (Michael) Lathrop, Bobby (Jenn) Sinnott, Bryan Stephens, Adam Stephens, Andy Stephens, Cassie (Aaron) Henderson, Brenna Stephens, Jeremy and Katie Peterson, Nicole, Kasi, and Spencer Stephens; great grandchildren, Taegen and Luke Bossard, Jag Lathrop, Landen Simpson, Kinsley and Presley Henderson, Talan Peterson, and Averie Harris. She is also survived by her siblings, Jim Billings of West Des Moines, Donna (Larry) Scieszinski of Melrose, Larry Michael (Debbie) Billings of Carlisle, Diane (Dr. Kenneth) Anderson of Chariton, sister-in-law, Alice Billings of Indiana, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, John Billings, sister, Peggy Billings, and sister-in-law, Kay Billings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia with Father Mike Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating. Marilyn will be cremated following services with a private family burial held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m. with family being present until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. There will be a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. conducted by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary, and a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 p.m., Friday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia.
