Martha (Murray) Spurlock, age 91, of Ottumwa, passed away on August 6, 2021 at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa. She was born on June 30, 1930 in Agency, Iowa to Hugh and Florence (Louderback) Murray. \n\nMartha attended school in Ottumwa and graduated with the class of 1948. She then later attended school at AIB College of Business in Des Moines and received her Associates Degree. She worked for Prudential Insurance Company for a short period of time before getting married. She married Donald Spurlock on June 7, 1952 in Ottumwa. They were blessed with five children, Gloria, Bob, Stan, Steve and Ron. Martha and Donald shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2003. \n\nMartha was a homemaker most of her life, while raising her children. She found enjoyment in many activities including, fishing, baking, shopping and gardening. In her younger years of life she loved dancing, especially with her husband Donald. She was an avid bowler who was active in a women's bowling league. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. \n\nShe is survived by her children, Gloria (Les) Gaskill of Ottumwa, Bob Spurlock of Ottumwa, Stan (Linda) Spurlock of Bloomfield, Steve (Audrey) Spurlock of West Des Moines and Ron (Laura) Spurlock of Hedrick, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great child. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Florence Murray; husband, Donald Spurlock; siblings, Vivine Bradfield and David Murray. \n\nMartha's body has been cremated per her wishes with no formal services.
