Marvin Joe Barnes, age 58, of Ottumwa passed away May 21, 2019, at his residence. Marvin was born on June 2, 1960 to Phillip and Ada Mae (Davis) Barnes. He graduated from Albia High School, class of 1978, where he received his nickname "Elvis" from his fellow classmates.\n\nMarvin enjoyed going to sprint car races, casinos and mushroom hunting. He truly loved spending time with family and being able travel to Las Vegas and the Philippines with his brother Roland and his wife Jessie.\n\nHe is survived by his siblings, Roland (Jessie) Barnes of Ottumwa, Karen (Jerry) Knapp of Lovilia, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Ada Mae Barnes, and a nephew, JJ Knapp. \n\nFuneral Services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home, Gilbert Chapel in Lovilia with Pastor Merle Pope officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, opening to the public at 10:00 a.m., with Marvin's family greeting friends until the service.
