Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Mary Louise Zotz\n\r\n\t\t\t\tMary Louise Zotz, age 67, of Albia, IA, died on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at her home. She was born on June 1, 1947 to Carl Phillip I. and Armenta (Owens) Zotz.She graduated from Albia High School, class of 1965. She then completed the Medical Technology program in Minnesota, and graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, MO with a bachelor of science degree. Mary started her career in the medical field in Albia and Ottumwa. During this time she was an avid softball player and coach. Mary left a lasting impression on all of her players (which always included at least one niece.)Mary took a leap of faith and moved to Denver, Colorado to continue her medical career. Mary loved the field of medicine and continued her training and education. She excelled in her profession and retired as a Hematology Supervisor. She enjoyed all of the people she met during her long career. She was chosen on numerous occasions to travel all over the United States to do Laboratory Inspections with a Medical Team from Denver. Mary fell in love with Colorado and made many life long friends. She loved the mountains. She loved to ski, camp, hike and river raft. She enjoyed the big city life. She loved the arts, diverse culture and the dining experiences. Mary shared her love of Colorado with any relative and friend that wanted to visit. Mary retired in 2012 and moved back to Iowa to be with family. Mary was a very loving and giving person and was active in various community & church activities. Survivors include: siblings, Alice (Paul) Shaw Davis. of Albia, Patricia Datin of Albia, Carl Phillip Zotz II of Centerville, Marilyn Fulton of Iowa City, Janet Summers of Albia, Michael (Donna) Zotz of Afton; nieces and nephews, Debera (Mike) Richmond, Terry (Joyce) Shaw, Cindy (Bill) Beary, Karla (Larry) Clements, Vicki (Mike) Watkins, Becca (Tom) Shoppa, Liz Chambers, Theresa Barker, Diana Kurimski, Brenda (Randy) Newman, Debra (Larry) Seddon, Tina (Max) Hinshaw, Lori (Kent) Webb, Carl Phillip (Fran) Zotz III, Mona (Paul) Dahlin, Karen (Delwin) Van Wyk, Kathy (Gordy) Hix, Jeff (Rhonda) Summers, Jerry (Tracy) Summers, Justin (Jamie) Summers, Michelle (Darren) Moore, Robert (Jessica) Zotz, and numerous great nieces, great nephews, special friends and their children. Mary was Preceded in death by her parents, Michele Richmond, Paul, Chris, & Alan Kauzlarich & her dear companion Shady (Black Lab) of many years.Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia with Father Mike Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating. Burial of remains will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will be Friday, opening to the public at 1:00 pm and family being present from 6-8 pm. There will be a Rosary Service conducted by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary at 4:00 pm and a Christian Wake Service held at 6:00 pm at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. Services entrusted with Sinnott Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers that family has requested memorial contributions to: Kidney donor foundation, American Diabetes Association, Albia Bike and Trail Project.
