Michael "Bernard" Murphy, age 82, of Clearwater Fl., passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022 under the care of Golden Age Nursing Home in Centerville, IA and EveryStep Hospice.\n\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2022 at St. Patrick's Church in Melrose, IA. The service will be followed by Military Honors at the Church. The family will hold a private burial at a later time. He attended Prairie Center School in Melrose IA; graduating from Melrose High School in 1957. He served in the Military (Army) from 1957 -1960. Bernard met his first wife Barbara J. Anderson and they married October 17, 1964. After her passing, he met Jo A. Murphy (Kennebeck) and they married December 30, 1989. Bernard worked for the Rock Island Railroad during his career. \n\n Survivors include his wife Jo currently living in Centerville; his children Ann (Bob) Gilliam of Melrose and Tim (Stephanie) Murphy of Des Moines; grandchildren Logan McManus, Sydney McManus and Allison McManus; brothers John E. Murphy, Robert A.(Tony) Murphy and David E(Gene) Murphy; and stepsons Chris (Alicia) Kennebeck, Marty (Leanna) Kennebeck, Scott Kennebeck and Jeremy (Janel) Kennebeck. \n\nBernard is preceded in death by his parents, Michael J. and Ardena Murphy; wife Barbara J Murphy and brother Michael R.
