Nancy Kay Ruby, age 75, of Ottumwa, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Ottumwa Regional Hospital, Emergency Room. She was born on November 14, 1946 in Ottumwa to Trenton Michael and Elaine (Brookhart) Clark. \n\nNancy graduated from Ottumwa High School, class of 1964. She then attended nursing school at St. Josephs Hospital, and then worked as a nurse at St. Josephs for fifteen years, and later worked for Dr. Robert Blew for twenty-three years until her retirement. She married Ronald Eugene Ruby in June of 1966 and they were blessed with two children, Kista and Burke. \n\nShe enjoyed gardening, and she was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan. Family was her life. She cherished time spent with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she loved attending their events and her granddaughter's softball games. \n\nNancy is survived by her husband, Ron Ruby of Ottumwa; children, Kista (Justin) Henderson of Bloomfield, Burke (Carla) Ruby of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Sydney, Ryne, Kyle, Schuyler; eight great grandchildren, Luke, Lilly, Delaney, Ashly, Isaiah, Macie, Zayden, Briely, and sisters, Sandy (John Francis) Huff, Stacey (Bill) Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Trenton and Elaine Clark; two sisters, Charlotte Hull, Lilly Hunt, and one step brother, Butch Black. \n\nA Visitation will be held to celebrate Nancy's life on Thursday, October 20, 2022, opening to the public at 3:00 p.m., with Nancy's family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Ottumwa. Nancy's body will be cremated following visitation hours. Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice.
