Ottumwa, Iowa

Hello, dear friends and family. If you are reading this, then I have taken my final bow and left the stage, on October 22, 2026. Born on December 8, 1952, in the vibrant city of Houston, Texas, I lived a life rich with love, laughter, and the occasional thrill of a scary movie. "Life is what you make it," they say, and I made mine with an ambitious heart, always striving to embrace every moment with a funny quip and a generous spirit. My most treasured role was not one of a grand career but as the loving matriarch of my family, ensuring that my grandbabies always felt cherished and adored.

I was fortunate to call Ottumwa, Iowa, my home, with the bustling streets of Chicago as a fond memory. I cherished shopping trips and the joy of finding that perfect item to bring home. My heart was filled with happiness when surrounded by my family, and my greatest joy was in watching them grow and thrive. To my children, Charles (and Darshell), Albert, Benjamin, and Patrick, you were my pride and my purpose. To my dear sister, Carolyn, and my beloved grandchildren—Sontoya, Benjamin Jr., Pattrell, Kamir, Kameya, Paris, Priest, Patrick Jr., Desire, and Deanthony—you were the lights of my life.

Now, as I join my mother, Q Martin, my step-father, Buster Martin, and my beloved grandchildren, Patricia and Anthony Allen, among others who have gone before me, I leave behind a legacy of love and laughter. I hope you continue to fill the world with your kindness and humor, lighting up rooms as I once did. As you remember me, please share your memories and photos on my memorial page. In the words of one of my favorite authors, "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." Keep me in your hearts, and I'll live on forever through you.

Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held in Chicago.
