Rafael Botello Ramirez Obituary (1953 - 2021)

Rafael Botello, age 68, of Ottumwa, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was born on February 20, 1953 in Mexico to Enrique and Maria (Guadlupe) Botello. Rafael married Maria Guadlupe Ramirez on February 19, 1975, and they were blessed with three children: Maria, Fernando, and Luis. He worked for JBS in Ottumwa. He enjoyed going to the casino, playing the lottery, fishing, and especially spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Maria of Ottumwa; children, Maria (Gerardo) Abonce of Spencer, IA, Fernando (Alicea) Botello of California, Luis (Vera) Botello of Ottumwa, IA; ten grandchildren, and siblings, Jose (Maria) Botello of Ottumwa, and Jose (Juana) Botello of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Maria Botello, and siblings, Gomesindo Botello, and Lidia Botello. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2021at St. Mary Visitation Church in Ottumwa with Father James G. Betzen C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, opening to the public at 2:00 p.m., and Rafael's family will be present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m., at Sinnott Funeral Home in Ottumwa. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may directed to Rafael's family.
