Robert Lane Myers, age 70, of Melrose died on Monday, January 17, 2022 at his residence. He was born on September 17, 1951 in Leon, Iowa to Samuel and Maxine (Baysinger) Myers. \n\nHe started working for BNSF Railway in 1974. He met Sue McMaster at a restaurant she worked at while he was working in Galesburg, IL. They united in marriage on December 14, 1991 in Galesburg. \n\nRobert enjoyed fishing, hunting, repairing tires, spending time in his man cave (shed) with a few beers with his friends, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and great grandson. He was a volunteer fireman for the Melrose Fire Department, and he enjoyed being his good buddy Tim Judge's right hand man. Robert loved people and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. \n\nSurvivors include, wife, Sue of Melrose; children, Shelly (T.J) Fry, Eric J. (Cindy) Benson, Kyle (JoAnn) Benson; nine grandchildren, Jake, Alex, Jessie, Chandler, Dalton, Garrett, Genna, Jeremy, and Kaitlyn; great grandson, Kaizer; brothers, Dennis (Jeanette) Myers, Lester Myers, Donnie Myers, Rick Myers; sister, Patricia, and two brothers-in-law, Jay McMaster and Jim Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Maxine Myers, and great granddaughter, Rayna. \n\nRobert's body has been cremated per his wishes. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 1-3 p.m., at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
