Stephen Dale Robnett, age 68, died on Friday, December 15, 2023 at UnityPoint Health in Des Moines. \n Steve was born May 7, 1955 to Dale and Pat Robnett. He was diagnosed with severe autism at a very early age. He was a long time resident of the Glenwood State Hospital School in Glenwood IA. He later transferred to the Woodward Resource Center in Woodward, Ia.\n Steve loved the outdoors and clapping at the butterflies. He had a wonderful sense of humor. His caregivers loved working with him and enjoyed his smiles. In a group setting Steve liked going to hockey games and watching animals at the zoo. He was known as “ house greeter” as he greeted people with a smile and an occasional “hi” or “hey”.\n He is survived by his siblings, Tom Thompson of Ottumwa, Bob Thompson of Albia, Terry Thompson of Albia, Margaret Ballard of DeSoto, Mo., Brad Robnett of Albia, Randy Robnett of Ottumwa, Malinda Robnett of Albia and several nieces and nephews. \n He was preceded in death of his parents; sisters, Penny and Karen and sisters-in-law Wilma and Este. Upon his death parts of his body have been donated to the Iowa Donor Network of Altoona,Ia to help give the gift of life to thousands across the nation.\n Cremation performed by Sinnott Funeral Home of Albia. A family service will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Ia.
