He was born on July 29, 1953 to Madelyn (Palmer) and Bill Carter. He graduated from Albia High School, and later enlisted with the United States Marines. He married Donna Mallory Harris on November 9, 2002 in Avery, Iowa. He retired from Iron Workers Local 67 in 2010. Wolf had a love of life and enjoyed spending time with friends. He particularly enjoyed playing billiards, starting at an early age at Pat's Pool Hall, with Ace Samuels taking him under his wing. He later ended his billiards career at the Albia American Legion under the watchful eye of Dean Remy. No one enjoyed the good times more than Wolf, as he would often be found hunting, fishing, and partying with his friends. As a true Carter, he liked going to casinos, and he was able to go one last time on Friday. He was known as Grandpa Wolfie by his three grandsons. He enjoyed taking Dalton on tractor rides, waving and smiling as they drove around Melrose. Wolf is survived by his wife, Donna Carter of Melrose; brothers, Carl (Connie) Carter of Albia, Gary (Bonnie) Carter of Albia, Darrell (Faith) Carter of Avery, and Mike Carter of Iowa City; step-children, Ryan Harris, and Stacey Tawney; grandchildren, Dalton Harris, Jack Tawney, Aidan Tawney; aunts, Carolyn Teno, Janet Palmer, Louise (Joe) Kosmach, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Madelyn and Bill Carter. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. Military rites conducted by the American Legion of Melrose, Albia, and Lovilia will follow services. Wolf will be cremated following services and a burial of cremains will be held at a later date.
