Vera LaVelle Proctor, age 100, of Blakesburg, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa. She was born on August 2, 1920 at the family farm in Blakesburg to William and Mary (Yenger) Arnold. \n\nVera graduated from Blakesburg High School, class of 1939. She married Warren Proctor on September 1, 1941 in Unionville, MO. They were blessed with four children, Floyd, Jo, Jim and Debbie. She was a homemaker most of her life while Warren farmed the family farm. Verna and Warren shared seventy-seven years of marriage until his passing in 2019. \n\nShe had many types of hobbies including playing the piano, sewing, baking, and gardening. She had a passion for nature, being outside and bird watching. Most of all she loved her family, with many fond memories of playing games with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for saying and known by, "finish your work and play games later". \n\nShe is survived by her children, Floyd (Marge) Proctor of Unionville, Jo Kesterke of Dallas City, IL, Jim Proctor of Melrose, Debbie McKinney (Terry Strunk) of Dallas City, IL; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Arnold, husband Warren, granddaughter, Krystal Elliott, son-in-law, Ron Kesterke, daughter-in-law, Linda Proctor, siblings, Alma Daggitt, Anna Seipert, Edith Staffanou, Oral Staffanou and William Arnold. \n\nFuneral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2020 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Pastor Ray Lyon officiating. Burial will follow services in Jay Cemetery. Visitation will also be held on Friday, October 30, 2020, opening up to the public at 10:00 a.m, until the service begins at Sinnott Funeral Home in Ottumwa.
