Vicente Sican Soloman, age 75 of Ottumwa, IA, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Care Initiatives Hospice in Ottumwa.\n\nVicente was born on January 22, 1948 in Finca El Zapote, Guatemala to Guillermo Sican and Carmen Soloman.\n\nVicente came to the US in the late 80's in search of a better life. He knew a bit of everything and also had various Hobbies throughout his life which included: Gardening, fishing, caring after his birds, caring after his Hen and rooster, going out into the ministry, among several other things. He enjoyed playing his guitars, spending time with his grandchildren, gathering with his Congregation and preaching. He was a Mechanic for a little over 50 years. In his earlier years, he belonged to a CB Radio group where he was dubbed "Señor Guatemala". He would travel back to his country to visit his Family and with the help of his friends, he would hand out Toys, food and clothing to children.\n\nHe is survived by 3 sisters Maria (Juan), Susana (Alejandro), and Matilde (Nelson). 7 Children, Aydro (Lisa), Leticia (John), Olga (Edy), Victor, Billy, Kelsie (Richard), and Janella (Michael). 21 Grandchildren, Elbert, Erickson (Yesenia), Lisseth (Jairo), Lindsay (Bailey), Danessa (Brayan), Denise, Casey, Chance, Kimberly (Christopher), Alec, Courtney, Zane, Angel, Myah, Kadaj, Azazel, Alaina, Azrael, Vergil, Ezio, Eiko. Also 8 Great-Grandchildren, Naomi, Eithan, Oliver, Dunia, Neizan, Othello, Alexander, and Asaiah. \n\nHe is preceeded in death by his parents Guillermo and Carmen and also 3 brothers, Luis, Froilan, and Luciano.\n\nA great appreciation to Felipe Zapon who urged our father to come to the United States.
