William "Bill" Russell Maddy, age 73, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away on March 31, 2022 at his home. He was born on July 14, 1948 to Russell and Bernadette (Heyland) Maddy. \n\nBill graduated from Albia High School, and then served in the Army National Guard. He worked for the railroad for several years, before returning to the family farm near Weller. He later worked for several trucking companies before retiring.\n\nBill's passion was muscle cars, and he enjoyed watching and attending car shows. He was most recently working on his 1969 GTO. He was a very caring person, and dearly loved by his son, grandson, two sisters, six nieces and one nephew. He was a loving grandpa to his only grandson, Will. He will be greatly missed.\n\nHe is survived by his son, Ross; grandson, Will; sister, Dorothy; six nieces and one nephew; father-in-law, Gerald Ross; sister-in-law, Deb Clough; brother-in-laws Greg, Kenny, and Brian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty; parents, Russell and Bernadette Maddy; his sister, Mary Jo West; brother-in-laws, Roger West, and Denny Parker, and mother-in-law, Claudine Ross.\n\nA Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2022 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Father Mark Yates, C.PP.S. officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Weller. Memorials may be directed the the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
